Shadows Among the Roses
A forbidden love. A cruel destiny. A flight toward eternity.
⸻
Chapter 1 – The First Glance
It was a golden evening, and the sun slowly set behind the city’s ancient minarets, painting the walls in copper hues.
Laila walked through the crowded market alleys, her silk scarf dancing in the wind like it had a life of its own. Her steps were light, but her heart — chained by duties and expectations — was heavy as stone.
That’s when she saw him.
Amir, a young artist with tousled black hair and an intense gaze, was painting beneath an old archway. His hands were stained with color, yet each stroke was precise, as if he were shaping something sacred.
Their eyes met — just for a moment — but it was enough.
Time stood still.
The world moved around them, but that brief moment etched itself into their souls like the first line of a poem that could never be written.

Chapter 2 – The Secret Garden
Days passed, but that glance remained a sweet ache in both their minds.
Then came the second encounter. Under a full moon, Laila found the courage to return to where she had seen him. Amir was there. He had hoped. Maybe… he had felt her.
Thus began their stolen meetings, hidden among the scent of jasmine and the trembling branches of wild fig trees.
The secret garden belonged to no one — but it became their sanctuary.
They spoke in whispers, as if not to frighten the magic. Amir would read her poetry, painting the moon across her skin with words, while Laila listened like one listens to the ocean through a closed window.
But they both knew the dream was fragile.
Laila’s father had promised her to a wealthy and cruel man, concerned only with power.
Loving Amir was a crime.
And each night, the line between love and ruin grew thinner.

Chapter 3 – The Serpent’s Bite
One day, the news struck like a blade: Laila’s father knew.
Not everything — but enough. His guards followed her; his words grew sharp and cold.
“One day you will be my wife,” said her fiancé, “and you’ll forget that painter.”
Laila wept in silence, but Amir saw the darkness in her eyes.
Someone had betrayed them.
It was Yassin — an old friend of Amir — eaten alive by envy. He had followed Amir to the garden and revealed everything to win favor.
Now the lovers were hunted.
Every step could be their last.
The city that had once sheltered them had become a trap.
And the serpent slithered closer, its fangs ready to strike.

Chapter 4 – The Night of Escape
It rained hard that night. The sky wept for them.
Cloaked in darkness, Laila and Amir moved through the alleys, avoiding lanterns, clinging to the shadows.
They heard the guards behind them — barking orders, boots splashing through puddles, swords clanging.
They fled to an ancient monastery, long abandoned. Crumbling columns, shattered windows… and silence.
They lit a candle.
“If we die,” said Amir, “let it be here, among stones that belong to no one.”
Laila looked into his eyes. “We won’t die,” she whispered. “We’ll live forever — if not in flesh, then in the memories of those who listen to stories beneath the roses.”

Chapter 5 – The Eternal Kiss
At dawn, pale light crept through broken glass. The guards were near.
Laila clutched Amir’s hand. Her lips trembled — not from fear, but from the weight of farewell.
“If they take me,” she said, “I won’t let them erase what we lived.”
Amir brushed a lock of hair from her cheek. “Then let’s run,” he said. “Even if there’s nowhere left — let’s run into our hearts.”
They stepped outside hand in hand, like ghosts defying fate.
The guards spotted them. Shouts.
A bowstring snapped.
An arrow flew.
Time froze.
Then a scream. A body fell.
No one knows who was struck first.
Some say they died together, embraced, with a final kiss still warm on their lips.
Others believe they vanished into the mist, and that even now, on nights of the full moon, two shadows hold hands in the secret garden — among the roses.

🌹 And so ends the story of Laila and Amir — souls bound by a love no time could erase, nor death divide.
